The Association for Information Management
ASLIB has always played a strong role in shaping the future, and continues this work vigorously. Through the teams of experts who lead and produce the publications - the training course providers, the network of expert members and staff, as well as the editorial and ASLIB advisory boards - current trends are monitored, and leadership is provided through the products and services on offer to ASLIB corporate members.
ASLIB provides leadership in such areas as demonstrating value, effective use of social media, m-libraries, QR codes and tagging, taxonomy and classification, metadata and indexing, in information management contexts as well as areas of practice such as Knowledge and Records Management. Core areas for ASLIB are governance and regulatory compliance issues such as Copyright, Data Protection and Freedom of Information – and how information, records and knowledge management skills and techniques are core to helping organisations of all kinds achieve best practice in these areas.
Part of the work of shaping the future will involve reinvigorating our existing Communities of Practice and creating new ones – we are always looking for energetic practical people with good ideas to help us develop our networking activities.
