The Aslib Biosciences
Group promotes the exchange of information in the fields
of biology, agriculture, medicine and the environment. Group
members - librarians, information scientists, researchers
and others - represent organisations within academia, government,
research, commerce and industry. Group membership therefore
offers a network of relevant experience of information management
across this field.
The Biosciences
Group works actively with other similar specialised groups
in the United Kingdom and elsewhere. It is the focal point
in the UK for the International Association of Agricultural
Information Specialists (IAALD) and a Corresponding member
of HeLicon (Health Libraries and Information Confederation).
Group Events:
The Group organises a range of seminars, including the annual
Phyllis Edwards Memorial Lecture, with emphasis on providing
updates on important developments in the Biosciences field.

Annual Conference:
In addition to seminars and visits, the Group also organise
a successful annual conference. For details of the 2004
AGM, click here. The 2003 event, Research
support in the online environment : a biosciences perspective
was a great success. In 2002, the conference focused on
electronic developments, archives and digitisation in biological
and biomedical research. The events are reported in Managing
