e-Government Information NEW

Programme Features
The course introduces the policy context of e-Government (UK) information and examines current issues and practice in the management of government information. The main focus is on the provision of electronic access to government information through the web, and on standards and best practice in areas such as government web site design and usability, collection management, archiving. An international perspective on government will be adopted and there will be opportunities to explore developments in this field at local, national and international levels.

By the end of the course, delegates will have:

  • an understanding of the policy context of e-Government information;
  • a knowledge of the distinctive characteristics of e-government information and the changes that ensue when governments move from paper-based information dissemination to web-based dissemination;
  • an understanding of how governments provide access to information and of the information management issues facing government information professionals;
  • an ability to find government information of different kinds on the Web and to evaluate government web sites critically according to appropriate criteria;
  • acquired a foundation of basic practical skills in working with
    e-government documents and of government information on the web.
