Why you
should attend:
Developing
a career means taking on increased managerial responsibilities,
including financial. Like all professions, accounting
and finance can present to outsiders the appearance of
a closed shop, but a working understanding of this can
help to avoid problems. The
course provides a balance of both financial techniques
(whilst always keeping the number-crunching as straightforward
as possible) and relating this to the wider organisation.
A further aim is to de-mystify some of the technical financial
jargon that can otherwise provide a barrier for non-financial
specialists, with a glossary provided of frequently-used
(but also frequently misunderstood!) financial terms.
On completing
the course, participants will:
- participate
effectively in your organisation's budgeting process
- evaluate
the effects of alternative policies on resources and
results
- carry out
cost analyses and apply the results to plan service
provision and (where relevant) in setting charges for
services
- prepare
cash-flow forcasts and budgets for new information services
activities
- prepare
a budget and use this in business planning
- use the
budget to monitor and control performance
- deal with
your organisation's accountants with confidence
